Afternoon Tea with Rich's mum and family at the Fairmont Royal York. Super late post- we went back in August! But the food was way too pretty not to post, so better late than never.
Sandwiches, pastries and tea galore followed by pool hang outs and dinner. A good way to end off the season! Thanks Fern!!
I tried their new Ontario Ice Wine White Tea. It was delicious, especially with a scoop of sugar. It had a grape-y flavour and was light and refreshing.
If you have the chance to try it- I recommend that you do. So good!
Our cake stand filled with goodies for four.
Accompanied by cute little pots of preserves and local honey.
Warm scones dusted lightly with powdered sugar, two per person...
Perfect for slathering with Devonshire Cream and raspberry jam.
Next, tea sandwiches. I think this might've be my favourite part. There were five different sandwiches.
-Chicken celery salad on a sundried tomato brioche with caramelized pecans
-Organic cucumber with pink peppercorn cream cheese
-Smoked Aurora turkey breast on cranberry brioche with cranberry aioli and arugula
-Open face grilled seasonal vegetables on a pretzel with with hummus
...aaaaaandd...
....smoked salmon mini poppyseed bagle with citrus aioli. WAY TOO CUTE and since I'm a huge fan of smoked salmon, this was my favourite. I could have eaten a hundred thousand of these.
Second tier had mini dark chocolate truffle tortes and mini meringue tartlets. That torte is so rich and decadent. I always end up taking a bite and saving the rest of later. The tart was filled with sweet lemon curd and topped with torched meringue. A nice way to cut the richness of the chocolate.
Top tier had Chantilly swans and mini chocolate guava cups with berries.
The colours are to diiieieeeeeieieeee forrrrr. Diabeeeetes!!
Dairy sensitive? No problem. The chef and staff were very accommodating. Instead of all the dairy filled sweets and pastries, you're served fresh berries, Pâte de fruits, segmented cirtus and fruit gelatin.
In addition to the fresh fruits, you also get three giant scoops of sorbet. Delicious sorbet made with the sweetest gems.
Strawberry, raspberry and mango. It was so good- we couldn't get our spoons away.
Mix'n match tea sets.
We got take away boxes and called it an afternoon. It was such a pretty day. Sunny, breezy and warm. More photos.
Right outside the Royal York is Union Station and right behind that is the CN Tower.
It's always busy.
Beachessssssss!
Kidlets in the pool. Doing almost dives and splashing my camera.
Belly Flop.
Jelly Bean.
Last of the Hibiscus flowers.
Hankering for left overs. Chocolate Torte and Chantilly Mush Swan for snacky-snack.
Lazy girl dinner of Annie's mac & cheese from a box. We ate it by the pool, so not so bad!
I'm still playing catch up on posts, what's new?
