Song Cook's & Bubble Tea

Banchan
Dinner at Song Cook's with my bff. I love this place, it serves delicious food at a reasonable price and we always leave with leftovers!

M and I were quite peckish when we met up for dinner. As soon as we sat down, we were offered four types of banchan, which included kimchi, pickled radish, marinated bean sprouts (our favourite) and another rather salty/pickled variety. She's Korean, so I asked that she choose something we'd both enjoy, but I hadn't eaten before.
MuGunJi Pork Ribs
This was a huge plate of food, full of super tender pork ribs braised with large chunks of potatoes and really, really old kimchi. Aged kimchi, as in three years. Super pungent, sour, spicy and delicious! It wasn't the most appetizing looking plate, but who cares. It was served piping hot and tasted so good.

JaJangMyun Combo
I've ordered this combo before. It's great for sharing and it comes with lots of noodles! Two types- with a black bean sauce and another in a spicy seafood soup (with a scrambled egg on top) which also comes with a bowl of rice. We love carbs.

We finished maybe half of the kimchi ribs, packed the other half to go and polished off the noodle combo.

And because we weren't full enough, we decided to go for bubble tea just up the street. But to really amp up the gluttony, we made a detour amidst our 5 minute walk and picked up a bag of gummy candy. Nothing like a little pre-sugar high to prep us for more sugar, duh.

Addictive
We ordered bubble tea, slushy style. I was hoping for either taro or honeydew flavour, but they couldn't make it a slush for some reason. I mean, how hard is it to mix milk, flavour powder, sugar syrup and ice in a blender? Boo. So after a little humming and hawing, I decided on lychee. It was..okay. I think I prefer the creamier varieties better. The lychee flavour was bland and too sugary. M ordered the pudding flavoured slush. What does pudding taste like? Think flan or creme de caramel; custard with burnt sugar. It was surprisingly good. Something I might order next time.
