Garage Sale Pick Ups

For the past few years I've been wanting to go garage sale hunting and this past month finally did. Why I haven't done this sooner, is beyond me. One day I took a sunny stroll through my neighborhood and hit up 5 houses. It was a good day!

Assortment of pretty vintage tins

Antique kitchen items: two flour sifters, a glass measuring cup, tiny ladle (apparently a spoon used to feed babies), steel creamer

Two commercial cookie sheets and a 10" cast iron pan
The cast iron pan needed to be restored. I gave it a good clean, scrubbed it with steel then re-reasoned it in the oven for an hour. Now it's good as new. The best part is, because it's super old, there's already a good layer of seasoning on it. It's non-stick!

A little bit of oil is all that's needed. Perfectly fried egg (minus the broken yolk)!

I was pretty thrilled about this find. I've been looking for a nice container for my cocoa, so when I stumbled across this tin I had to pick it up. It was in near perfect condition too!

Okay, so it was for Cadbury's Cocoa Powder. Does Cadbury still make cocoa powder? Anyways, I have a lot of Fry's Cocoa, so that's what I put inside.

I lined the container with a little baggy just to ensure everything stayed contained. Wasted cocoa would be horrible!

I'm pretty happy about my garage sale finds! I got excellent deals on them and even got to work on my bargaining skills. There was a man who was a 'picker', and he had the biggest collection of vintage farmhouse items (think Pinterest/Martha Stewart). I'm talking racks of antique glass jars, beautiful trunks and chests, Victorian chairs, old kitchen tools with gorgeous patina, etc etc...basically photography prop heaven. I wish I had a prop warehouse and unlimited funds! While the items there weren't dirt cheap (it was his business after all), I still got some kitchen things and nik-nacs. He even gave me those tins for free. Whoohoo!
