I can't remember the last time I wandered around downtown until the wee hours of the morning and took the "vomit comet" home. Our evening started at 4:30pm, when we took the train down to Yonge and Dundas.

This past Tuesday, was the pre-screening for Pitch Perfect 2 (which was
hilarious, go see it). I had 2 passes, so Rich and I invited his
friends to come see it with us. There were a crazy amount of people
there for it and it was sold out to max capacity. We were lucky to arrive when we did, which was about an hour and a half before it began and we still ended up sitting near the front of the theater. The promoters handed out a mini LED flashlight to everyone as they exited, which will come in hand for those...it's so damn dark, I can't see my keys, I can't open the door and I really need to pee...situations.
I normally order the Chicken Panang Curry with rice, but because I've started to make it at home, I decided to try something new. I ordered the Beef Siam Noodles with 3 chilies. It wasn't the most visually appealing dish and could have done with some green or garnish, but it was delicious and the portion was huge. I took half of it home for meal #2.
Rich had the Golden Tofu with Rice and he really liked it. He probably could have ordered two servings and finished them both. 5 chilies was ridiculously spicy even for me. The curry was rich from coconut milk and had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. There were 5 pieces of tofu, which isn't much, but there is an option to add more for $1.50.
After dinner we decided to wander a bit. There were crowds all around the Yonge and Dundas area, so we scoped it out and went on a tiny adventure. Not only were the people wandering around and were closed roads, there were Midway City cruisers and signs everywhere! Why? Suicide Squad.
Fully functional military vehicles that everybody wanted to open the doors to. They were unsuccessful and got shoo'd away for trying.
That Jeep below, was rigged to hook up to cylinders of gas. Later on (I'm talking 3-4am) they moved it to the middle of Dundas Square to be lit up. Of course they moved everyone out of the scene and we couldn't actually see any action, but there were babe-ly bearded actors dressed up in military garb, doing military things with guns. One of them could have been Scott Eastwood, but everyone looked the same to me and I didn't even know he was in the movie. :\
Around the corner, they filmed another scene. It took forever and apparently they were super behind schedule. A little research on Instagram, told me Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Dead Shot (Will Smith) were there too. Nobody got to see them, except for the people living in the building.
Product placement for Jose Cuervo's Tequila Tradicional. We spoke to the man guarding it and he told us 1. he had been guarding it for 8+ hours straight, no sitting, just standing there for $16/hour 2. the whole display is a prop with safety glass 3. somebody will probably be throwing a Midway City mailbox into it. He was so friendly, we probably hung out with him for an hour!
More walking, stopped into a 24 hour Burger King for a cup of hot tea and to use to restroom and watched a kid sitting at a booth trying to find a viable vein to plunge his syringe filled with (probably) drugs into. UM, blood everywhere. I guess this is one of the reasons why I was told not to eat off of public tables. I get it now. The 5 second rule does not apply here.
Rich and I hopped on the super foul smelling bus (smelt of the worse sweaty, cheesiest, rotten armpit, ever) at 4am, tried not to barf and/or pass out and made it home just before sunrise. It's called the Vomit Comet for a reason; if it's not the inebriated puking, it might as well be everyone else's stomach turning from the stench. :)
Am I excited to Suicide Squad? Not one bit, but it was cool watching how production works!
