This past weekend Rich and I finally go around to grilling up some burgers! It had finished raining and the sky was clearing up a bit, so why not. Plus, I already had some ground beef in the fridge waiting to be put to good use and Rich had a box of SoL burgers that he wanted to try on the BBQ.
We ate our patties on sesame seed burger buns that I had made a day before. Totally vegan and made with wheat, flax and bran added in. I enjoyed how it was soft but at the same time sturdy enough to be sliced into thirds and carry two patties plus a good deal of toppings!
The pool is in the process of being drained.
And there's still a fair bit of broken limbs of trees in the neighbourhood.
Here's Rich's double SoL Burger in all of it's vegan glory- potato wedges too! I can't remember which flavour it was, but it was good. A little dry, unlike Gardein burgers but nothing a little ketchup or sauce can't remedy.
I topped my burger up with: Avocado, lettuce, mayo (Hellmann's!), Sriracha, red onions and another layer of mayo. I love mayo and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
Seriously guys, look at that bun!
Looks like I may have to start making my own from now on.
Looks like a missed a spot when I was painting the tops of the buns with faux egg wash. Oh well.
By the way, frozen potato wedges cooked on the BBQ tastes so much better than the oven. They get a yummy smokiness to them that's delish!
