This was a monster of a meal consisting of veal steaks, steamed broccoli and slices of toasted baguette. No recipe, just photos. I cooked it, I inhaled it and it was delicious. There was even room for dessert. Ha!

SImply Delicious
A lot of the time I wake up and feel like a bear coming out of hibernation. Seriously. But I'm tired and kind of groggy and if I don't get to sleep in, I know I'll need that wonderful cup (or two) of coffee.
Luckily on this day I was able to sleep in; but made coffee anyways. I also made toast with butter and two sunny side up eggs to go along with it. I am a huge fan of runny yolks and dipping my bread into it. I also had a little company while eating this simple yet totally scrumptious first meal of the day!

My Little Lemon Tree
I've never grown a fruit tree before, but I've always wanted to.
The other day while roaming around Home Depot, I decided to check out their garden center. Right in the middle of the room, was a display stand full of lemon trees! I got kind of really excited. There were Meyer lemons, eureka lemons and these girlie variegated pink eureka lemon trees with the prettiest green/cream coloured leaves and purple buds which promised pink lemons.
I was sure that one was coming home with me, but needed reassurance. It was a little intimedating, so I asked some of the ladies working in the garden center about proper care, over wintering and feeding. They patiently addressed my questions and concerns and then mentioned that there was a one-year warranty. Music to my ears. If anything happens to the tree within the year, I can return or exchange it as long as there's a receipt.
SOLD! I paid thirty some odd dollars minutes later and skipped happily out of the store, lemon in tow, happy as could be!

Not Cheese
I've been experimenting. With what, you ask?
Well, armed with bags and bags of raw cashews, I'm on a mission to make vegan cheese. One that will melt, caramelize and still taste amazing. This was experiment number two and it was reaaally tasty. Almost to the point where I admitted (to myself, and now you) that I could probably live without real cheese. There I said it.

Spicy Korean Stir Fried Chicken
If you've been reading my blog, you'll know how I feel about Korean spicy stir fried pork (Dwaejigogi-bokkeum). I had a bit of a hankering the other day so in an attempt to make this dish a bit healthier, I substituted sliced chicken breast for pork belly. Another reason for this was because chicken happened to be the protein being thawed in the fridge. Despite the swap, the result was still super delicious!

An Addition to the Kitchen Family
Finally! An ice cream maker I can be proud of! With a decent amount of credits in my account and a special promotion for $15 off $30 and an extra 15% cash back rebate from Ebates.ca....I couldn't not pick this Cuisinart ice cream maker. The deal was too good to pass up and I've been looking for a new machine anyways so the timing was perfect!

Juice Pick Me Up
I'm finally getting my garden things done after avoiding everything about it since last autumn. After ripping out old and dried skeletal remains of what were stalks of kale and tomatoes, pruning and managing my forever growing rasberries, I needed a drink. Something sweet, refreshing and not totally horrible for the body- juice!

Review: Elle Beauty Box, Spring 2014
I signed up and received this beauty box compliments of Elle Canada not too long ago. It arrived in a pretty pink box with rose designs and was packed full of their "all-star lineup of the season’s freshest beauty finds."

I Love Me Some Burgers
This past weekend Rich and I finally go around to grilling up some burgers! It had finished raining and the sky was clearing up a bit, so why not. Plus, I already had some ground beef in the fridge waiting to be put to good use and Rich had a box of SoL burgers that he wanted to try on the BBQ.
We ate our patties on sesame seed burger buns that I had made a day before. Totally vegan and made with wheat, flax and bran added in. I enjoyed how it was soft but at the same time sturdy enough to be sliced into thirds and carry two patties plus a good deal of toppings!

About
Hi, I'm Janetta from Toronto. I cook, bake and often veganize recipes. I photograph nearly everything and those photos will most likely end up being posted here. I've got a little black cat named Tank, who's really cute and a little bit nosy. You'll see a lot of photos of her too!
