Chicken fried steak, garlic mash and pan gravy with a side of zesty green beans. It looks pretty uniterested, but the flavours were there and I particulary enjoyed it with a side of raspberry jam. Kind of channeling Ikea's meatball and mash dinner, yum yum!
I have a jumbo box of Kellogg's Rice Crispy cereal that needed to be used up ('cause like, who enjoys eating that stuff plain with milk anyways?), so I poured some into a sip top bag and crush the living day lights out of them until the rice puffs became rice dust. Perfect for using as a bread crumb substitute, especially since they kind of resemble panko bread crumbs in texture. I did the three step method: flour, egg then crumbs and then pan fried them with a bit of oil for some colour and finished them off in the oven at 350F.
The mashed potatoes were infused with minced garlic which was slowly cooked in a little light olive oil until fragrant. I had to make them dairy free as we were out of cow's milk and used unsweetened almond milk instead. No one could tell the difference. The potatoes were boiled and pushed through a ricer, for silky smooth goodness!
With the sun setting a lot later now, I promise I'll post better food photos. xx
