Evergreen Brick Works: Part 3

Part 1  |  Part 2

This place is gorgeous. I can't say this enough. There are so many things to photograph and so many places for great photo ops, there's no wonder why people flock here with their photographers! While walking around, we spotted at least three families/couples getting their portraits taken as well as a bride and her bride getting their wedding photos done. Rain or shine, it's full of people!

Funny looking bulbous droopy thing

Love how run down/colourful it is

More wellie action. They make me feel invincible to puddles. No lie.

Happy Halloween!

A half bald, wrinkly headed, cone wearing Tank is totally ready for Halloween. She might not be able to go out side, but she'll probably lurk around the living room window doing what black cats do on such days- that is, making scarey silhouettes for the kidlings outside to peek at.

I might not be trick or treating anymore, but I'm still going out with the little ones tomorrow! Maybe I'll slap on extra make up to look even more spooky than I normally do. Ha! Fake blood? Perhaps.  Lets all remember to bundle up, because experience tells me that walking around for an hour or two at night while the wind is howling and the cement is damp with rain and fallen leaves makes for a super chilly adventure. Rain boots, a scarf, a pair of gloves and possibly a parka is on the list.  I'm going to look super cool.

I baked yummy and festive cookies tonight. :D

Quick Ribs

For dinner, I threw a rack of back ribs in the mini oven for give or take an hour and fifteen minutes at 375F (convect), then broiled them for about 4 minutes a side. (Similar to this recipe) The end result was still super tender, just fall off the bone and finger lick'n good. I used left over sauce from my pulled pork taco dinner and found myself loving the tangy-ness of it on ribs!

I made some brown butter garlic green beans and we heated up some challah on the side. Yum!

I'll never get bored of eating ribs. Never ever!

Evergreen Brick Works: Part 2

A continuation of our little visit to the Evergreen Brick Works! You know, before disastrous Hurricane Sandy came rolling along. I'm pretty sure there are no colourful leaves left on the trees at this point. :(

Hooray for pictures though! By the way, I'm currently doing a complete system backup in case shit really hits the fan and um...we have to do an evac or something super scary. Plus, it's been about 6 months since it was last done. It was about time! How about you?

Bad Lip Reading: The Hunger Games

Kettle Corn II

Since we're on a little bit of a kettle corn kick over here at the house, I decided to change it up a little but by using dark brown sugar instead of white sugar when making my most current batch. The result was a product that was a little more caramel-y both in colour and taste. I added extra fine sea salt, not the regular stuff which made it seem just a touch fancier. :)

It was good, but I think I prefer the regular kind. Perhaps if I tweak the recipe a little bit it could improve! I found that there was a little, just a little bit too much bitterness. Minor changes. Or maybe, I'll make CARAMEL CORN in the near feature...

Evergreen Brick Works: Part 1

Some weekends ago, Rich, my family and I headed off to take a walk through the Evergreen Brick Works, located at 550 Bayview Avenue in Toronto. The leaves were (and are still) changing colours and the cooler weather makes for a comfortable as well as beautiful scenic walk!
