All You Can Eat SUSHI!

Iceberg salad with cucumber slices and Wafu dressing (one of my favourite vinaigrette!)

Yummy seaweed salad with sesame seeds

Our first order of salmon sashimi and surf clams (super fresh and delish.)

Grilled eggplant pieces with a soy based sauce

Tempura mushrooms with that same soy based sauce

Peppered beef with lots of garlic, mmMm.

Grilled salmon belly with a tangy soy sauce ( yay, Omega-3s!)

Grilled Mackerel pieces with a tangy soy dipping sauce (one of my favourites!)

Our second order of salmon sashimi and surf clams. (yummy!)

The lone salmon sushi (salmon "pizza"?)

Black Dragon roll | Volcano Roll

Apollo Roll

Spicy salmon hand rolls and a single crispy salmon hand roll, far right

Close up. (I'm so hungry, posting these photos!)

Avocado Roll, Salmon and Avocado Roll, Rainbow Roll

Salmon Roses, Butter Fish sushi, Grilled Eel sushi (SO GOOD)
Fried octopus tentacles! (some of the best I've had!)

Lots of Grills Eel sushi (came to the wrong table, but looks good, right?)

Something's missing...

Shrimp tempura with a tentsuyu sauce (a little heavy on the batter, other wise great!)

Grilled eel fried rice (really yummy)

Green tea ice cream

Mocha cake (eh, just that regular buffet sheet cake stuff)

"Cheesecake" (totally gross and nothing like cheesecake. Not even Japanese cheesecake!)

Chocolate ice cream

Mango pudding (really good, not too sweet, really mango-y!)

Red Jello (cherry or strawberry? Tasted like cough syrup.)
We (my family, my Grandmother, Aunts and Denise) had dinner at La Maison du Japon last week! We were a table of eight, which is always great for all-you-can-eat affairs. The more people there are, the more dishes you can try! When it comes to Japanese buffets, this is the place we go to. The food is fresh, fast and service is pretty decent. Everybody left rolling out the door- we were stuffed and I think it's safe to say we all had a great time. I mean, how could you not? Family and good food. :D

Summer's Going

The neighborhood park that was taken down. It was pretty unsafe and ugly before, so hopefully the new stuff will be awesome!

Cute little acorns that I've never really noticed before. I'm thinking about collecting some for a center piece.

Crab cherries? Totally reminds me of cranberries and turkey.

We stopped by Tasty, for one of there of so delish yet horrible for your body beef patties!

lol, yum.

A playground at sundown

Giant tree. Looks like it would be fun to climb...kinda, not really. It would suck to fall from it.

Totally reminds me of salad.

Walking across the field to get to the ravine. This is when I lost him and started wandering around. lol

So I took a picture of grass. Interesting, no?

Then I took this photo, of weeds 'n things. I love birch trees! I think they're so pretty.

...and more weed-y flower-y things.

I couldn't help myself. It was yellow and I thought the colours were super pretty.

Then I walked to this tree. It had deep purple berries all over it, they were nearly black! Totally reminds of berries from a certain book.

The perfect weather for me happens around the end of summer when it's bright and sunny outside without any humidity. Slight cool breeze, lots of fresh crisp air and the smell of fallen leaves. I'm super excited for the holiday season! You know- Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Mooncake Festival , Thanksgiving, Halloween, Chanukah and finally Christmas! All of which include...food. :)

Ribs and Potatoes

Tell me those potatoes don't look delicious. And those ribs! I can't emphasize enough, about how much I love dinners I can just toss in the oven. Aside from the mushrooms which were sautéed in a pat of butter and 73 cloves of garlic and the boiled edamame beans which were seasoned with soy sauce, the ribs and potatoes only took about 10 minutes to prep and then into the oven.

Baby potatoes are my favourite to use, but regular white or yellow ones will do just fine when it comes to roasting them. I put a good sprinkling of salt, a touch of pepper, a couple teaspoons of granulated garlic, dehydrated onion flakes and smoked paprika on the washed a halved taters. In addition to that, some yummy olive oil! 40 minutes later, golden, crisp goodness. For some extra crunchiness, one could also toss some bread crumbs in before roasting, but I didn't have any. They were still delicious. They were delicious 3 days later when I reheated them in the microwave and then in the mini oven. I love potatoes.

I used bottled barbeque sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's Original) and graced it with some Johnnie Walker at my Pop's request. The ribs were a hit!

Pre-marinated Pork Chop Dinner

Remember that package of pork chops that I got for super cheap ($3.41)?

This is what I did with them! Marinated in two flavours (chili lime and my random Italian dressing mix), then bagged and frozen.

But before I frozen them ALL, I saved two pieces for dinner. One of each flavour.

Pan fried them with sliced onions

Yummy spices! Loads of flavour.

The onions caramelized while the pork cooked. All the juices got to intermingle!

I added a small slice of whole wheat pita  and that was dinner in about 10 minutes!

So yummy and SO FILLING. Seriously, two pork chops is way too much. I have no idea what I was thinking, but this entire meal was delicious! Fast and delicious. I couldn't as for more. You'll notice that I have no greens. But there was! A big bowl of baby spinach which I added some of those caramelized onions to along with some blue cheese dressing. /drooling!
